About the Youth Ministry
The youth ministry is a transitional outgrowth of the ministry to children. The ministry mainly focuses on the spiritual and moral well-being of young people. It is designed to oversee the affairs of the youth of the church in practical reality. Some responsibilities of the ministry include organizing and conducting Bible studies, seminars and workshops, recreation activities, Bible quizzes and contest, musical concerts, etc at local churches. It has been observed that thirty percent of the membership of the ACFI church is youth. Therefore, in order to give the church a future we must prioritize unwavering attention to the youth. Such attention must include a godly and good moral upbringing, moral responses and educational alertness.
The beginning
The youth ministry was established at the very inception of the ACFI. A leadership headed by a director to oversee the program was instituted to fulfill the mandate. Chapters have been organized at the local churches of the ACFI. The coordinated efforts of the various local branches have produced a framework that enhances the vision of the ACFI for the youth.
The purpose
The main purpose of the ministry is to expedite a better participatory focus thereby ensuring a godly, productive and responsible future for the youth. The quality of discipline instilled determines the future (Pro.22: 6/Pro. 3:1-2). This awesome responsibility is incumbent not only upon parents but also shared by the church and cooperates society.
Many young people have been affected by civil wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Many were forcibly recruited into rebel military and ruthless militia gangs. They have been taught violence, brutal killing and cannibalistic rituals. They have become a youth without a defined future; they attach no meaning to life. Unless they are exposed to some Christian-based rehabilitation, they remain a threat and danger to society. These concerns and the need to build a better future and many other factors birthed this all-important ministry.
Goals
The primary goal is to raise a generation that acknowledge God through the Son, Jesus Christ with productivity, moral response and social prominence; preparing them to lead a life of service to God and mankind. We believe that this can only be achieved through Christian orientation, discipline and adequate exposure to the truth. Therefore, as we engage this unique and all-important program, it is our ardent hope and prayer that the people of God will share this vision through involvement in any way to the glory of God.
