Agricultural Development
The tragedy of drought and the primitive methods of farming have deprived many nations of Africa the ability to produce sufficient food for sustenance. Hunger and starvation are among the epidemics that are catastrophic in the region. "Civil Wars" across the continent and the movement of millions of refugees have added to the disasters. People can not feed themselves unless they produce enough to meet the demand. The present methods and concepts of farming must be radically changed and improved methods must be employed in order to increase productivity.
The main source of livlihood for the rural peoples of Africa is agriculture. Any neglect of farming is catastrophic for this population. Therefore, as the main focus of ACFI is the rural and urban poor, the church is committed to improving general farming practices. To achieve this goal, ACFI Lauched and agricultural development program to train rural people and to provide incentives encouraging investments in food production. This effort will eventually help stem the tide of rural migration to cities and the ensuing poverty that so often results..
In Liberia, over 500 acres of land has been granted to ACFI by the government for this farm project. The project focuses on cash crops and instruction in how to raise livestock and poultry so that the poor and needy will be able to feed themselves. Produce from the farm project will also be marketed for ministry support, thereby minimizing foreign dependence and enhancing a self-support base.
