Orphaned & Indigent Children Ministry

ACFI became involved with the plight of disadvantaged children in 1993 as a result of the devastating effect of the Liberian civil war. Even though ministering to the needs of orphans has always been the hallmark of ACFI, the program became the main thrust of the church as a rescue project to counter the disastrous effect inflicted by the war. The program has brought hope to scores of hopeless orphans, indigent and other disadvantaged children. Children in four categories of concern being attended.

  1. Orphans
  2. Abandoned Children
  3. Handicapped
  4. Indigent Children

Children are sheltered and given complete care at five homes. The homes include the following:

  1. Daniel Hoover Children Village
    Dixville, Mountserrado County, Liberia
  2. Shepherd Village Caldwell, Mountserrado County, Liberia
  3. Mission for Deaf Children
    Gardnersville, Mountserrado County, Liberia
  4. Buchanan Home Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia
  5. Garpa Home Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia

Children at these homes are provided daily feeding, clothing, Christian education, medical care and they are taught to love God. The older children are also given vocational training to be useful to society. Adoption services are available to interested Christian families through this program. Fees are very minimum in comparison to other countries.

Many trained gospel workers have been recruited to provide volunteer services at the homes. They include pastors, teachers, nurses, social workers and others.

Purpose

The main purpose of the program is to fulfill the responsibility of the church (James 1: 27); to provide an avenue for others to participate in the divine privilege of service; to restore and rehabilitate the shattered lives of innocent children.

Goal

Our goal is to give the children hope and future; to raise a generation, whose desire is to serve God and Humanity, appreciate and lead an exemplary life of dignity (Ecc. 4:1).
